Codes and conventions
The codes and conventions are the usual practices and techniques which are followed to create an effective advertisement. I have successfully implemented these principles into my print and web advertisements by following certain steps. I have created the slogan "sip into paradise with every gulp" to promote the idea that with my drink product the taste will put the consumer in a state of relaxation and delight, this is to make the product seem appealing or refreshing to any potential viewers as my goal is to keep the idea of my product in the minds of anyone who sees the advertisements because this can increase the amount of product consumers.
On the front of my print advertisement I have included that my product is sugar free with no added colours or preservatives. This is a unique selling point for my product as typical carbonated drinks contain high amounts of sugar and artificial colours. This may make the product stand out and seem more appealing to other products as people may be looking for a healthier alternative to the average carbonated drink while still having the same taste.
For my colour theme of the advertisements I have gone for red and yellow as I wanted two colours which are vibrant to catch the eye of any potential viewers, a good contrast to make it more visually appealing against each other and colours which are easier to read for anyone with potential visual impairments or disabilities. Another reason of me choosing a set of lighter colours for my advertisements is that my advertisements are meant to be fun and joyful whereas an advertisement which uses darker colours like blue, black or purple may be trying to put a more serious or less energetic point across.
The background colours of my advertisements are the repeat colour of a semi-dark yellow with the key information of the poster being a semi-dark red as I want contrast between the background and the text of the logo which is a bright yellow. I have not made all of my colours bright as I want the colour theme to be vibrant, visually appealing and up-beat while also not going too over the top which would make the colours unappealing and harder to read.
My target demographic is younger children to teenagers so I have chosen the appropriate colour theme to make the product seem more appealing to children while also making it seem appropriate for teens or anyone above those ages as I do not want to exclude any potential consumers from buying the product. For the logo of my print advert I have made it large and centralised to make it the first key element which the viewer sees, the text in the middle of the logo is yellow on a background of a red apple to make it easier to read and more eye-catching than other brands or advertisements, I have made the information text around the centralised logo smaller than the main logo text to give the viewer a chance to read the information about the product after they have seen the logo.
Every company has a set of codes and conventions which makes their product seem desirable, memorable and visually appealing. For example, the Coca Cola company focuses on their unique style of a dark red product with a white, elegant themed graphological style. This is to make sure that their unique graphological style will be easily recognisable by their audience.
Evaluation
Overall, my main tactic of gaining attraction of my target audience was by using brighter colours and visually appealing fonts and styles I believe that I have successfully achieved this as I have gotten feedback from my peers and it was all mainly positive. I believe that I have managed to effectively apply my research which I have carried out onto my advertisements, this is because I made sure to include different assets which I gained influence from other advertisements such as the vibrant colour schemes, logo as the main point within the poster and a positive summer theme.
